Endorphin
Lason,
Przewlocka and Przewlocki, Life Sciences (1985),2691
studied the effects of a group of substances, including PHT, on
beta-endorphin and dynorphin levels in rat hypothalamus, pituitary, hippocampus
and thalamus. PHT (10 mg/kg) decreased the concentrations of beta-endorphin,
but not dynorphin, in the hypothalamus. The authors suggest that the release
of beta-endorphin induced by low doses of PHT may account for its therapeutic
effects in affective disorders.
